Olá! Welcome to our wedding website, we can't wait to celebrate our special day with you. We've created this website as a helpful resource and interactive way to share all of the important details with you in the lead up to our upcoming wedding in Portugal. You can also read more about our love story, get to know our amazing wedding party, find our schedule of events, travel information and some FAQs about the day. A Love Like This

In August of ’22, I didn’t know that a slew of text messages from my cousin Angel who lived in Orlando, FL. would change my life.&nbsp;Her messages were photos of a handsome stranger I would come to know as Maurice Tomlinson. She informed me that he had grown up around our family in the FL area and was a good guy, who was interested in getting to know me. My next response was, “he knows I live in Los Angeles, right?” She told me yes and that he was not deterred from that.&nbsp;So reluctantly, l said yes to her giving him my number, and she said he would take it from there.&nbsp;I was more than skeptical this could work, for a few reasons, a big one being the great distance between us.&nbsp;Pushing that aside I remained open to what was possible.&nbsp; Our first few conversations were pleasant some short some longer, and as the weeks carried on, they became more regular.&nbsp;I remember telling him, “I’m not going to do pin pal dating.” I can tell I threw him off with the concern in his voice when he asked what that meant.&nbsp;I explained, it meant, I am not about just talking on the phone, and we meet up a year later to see if this could work.&nbsp;To my surprise he quickly put a fix to that and asked if he could come visit me in LA to take me to the movies to see Wakanda Forever? I thought he was joking but when he sent me his confirmed airline info, I was impressed.&nbsp;Thinking that would be our first date, Maurice surprised me again by inviting me to Dallas, TX to attend his friend’s birthday party on October 30, 2022 ahead of our planned meetup in LA.&nbsp;In his words, “all you have to do is get to the airport, I’ll get your ticket and your own hotel room.” So, our first official date and meetup took place in Dallas, TX.&nbsp; We spent the next several weeks and months traveling back and forth to each other’s hometowns, and other places across the country culminating in February ’23 when Maurice asked for us to date exclusively and then we took our relationship public. Our ultimate trip came in August of the same year when Maurice took me to Barcelona, Spain and Paris, France (my dream locations). I already knew he was my person before our trip but spending that week on vacation together really solidified it for me.&nbsp;I think my family and friends thought he would pop the question then, but something told me he would choose a different time. As my family and friends were on ring watch, we continued our back-and-forth travels.&nbsp;As the new year approached, we knew our 1yr anniversary was coming soon in February. We decided to do dinner in our respective cities since Maurice would have to work and not able to be with me on that day, (so he said). 😊 On February 21, 2024, the week of our anniversary Maurice surprised me at the restaurant we had dinner at during his first time visiting me in LA.&nbsp;Almost like something out of a movie, he walked in looking so handsome and happy with the surprise he placed on my face when I saw him.&nbsp;I remember some of the beautiful and loving words he said leading us up to this point as we sat down to order.&nbsp;If you had a chance to see our proposal video on social media, then you know how this all ended up.&nbsp;I’ve never been so happy and felt so loved.&nbsp;I didn’t’ know I could feel or have love like this and questioned if it really would find me.&nbsp;I knew I was ready for it and ready to give it, I’m just so happy God saw fit to have it happen in His perfect time.&nbsp;Now I get to marry my best friend and the man I know God has sent just for me.

My Love (God) story! Love has always been a part of my life, even when I didn’t fully recognize it. It’s been there in quiet moments, in the connections I’ve made, and in the lessons, I’ve learned along the way. Now, with a bit more life behind me, I can see just how much love has shaped who I am. I’m talking about the kind of love that lasts—the real, deep love that makes everything else fall into place. There came a point when I realized that if I was going to search for love again, I needed to be truly ready. I wanted my heart and mind to be in the right place. So, I turned to God, asking for one more chance. I prayed, “When I’m ready, just one more time. And if I don’t find it, I’ll still believe in love, but I’ll reserve it all for You.” About a year before I felt this clarity, I had told my childhood friend that when the time was right, I was going to pursue his cousin. I knew in my heart that she would be the last person I would seek out—either she would be the one, or I would dedicate all the love in my heart to God alone. When the time came, I felt a calm strength within me, like the kind you find in Psalm 23:4: "I will fear no evil." With that feeling, I reached out to my friend’s sister and asked her to introduce me to her cousin (Tosha). She sent a few pictures of me, and that evening, I made the call that would change my life. From the moment we started talking, I knew there was something special. It felt like everything in my life had led to that conversation, to that person. And in that moment, I realized—I had found my last. The search was over.Thank you, Love. God is Love, and in finding her, I understand that more than ever.

The Bridesmaids

Jálin, affectionally known as "DJ or Dr. J" has been a part of my life for the last 21 years, as my sorority sister, and friend.  Every integral part of my adult life in the last 21 years, she has been there for.  We have traveled to various places together including Italy, Mexico, and across this country.  Our friendship has always been effortless and she has been a calming presence in my life and I know will be the same as my maid of honor. Jálin is the Senior Community & Engagement Officer for Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, CA and is Principal & Executive  Producer of Insufferable Academics, LLC.

Natalie resides in Inglewood, CA and is a Higher Ed Practitioner and Equity Coach and is one of my beloved sorority sisters and friends.  Every woman needs a sister friend as fiercely loyal and amazing as Natalie.  We have said to each other on numerous occasions, we cannot recall the moment we first met all those years ago.  What we do know is, we never looked back and have enjoyed so many fun times and memories together.  So happy my friend will be with me on this journey as one of my bridesmaids.

Dee Dee and I met in our early college years even though she attended college in SoCal and I attended college in AL. I had no idea when we met, we would be close friends and she would be one of my most cherished sorority sisters. Dee Dee brings joy and a new word you never thought you needed to know every time you see her. LOL.  I am thrilled to have her as part of this journey with me.  Ardelia is an accomplished educator who lives in Long Beach, CA and the Association President for her union.

Arraba and I met in my Junior year in college when we were introduced and matched to be roommates and she has been one of my best friends ever since.  After college, Arraba always resided in AL, and me in CA but it never deterred our communication and ability to remain close friends. We all have that friend that distance means you don't see or speak all the time, but when you do, it's like no time has passed. I was one of her bridesmaids years ago in her wedding, and I'm so thrilled that she will now be mine. Arraba is a mortgage professional residing in Birmingham, AL.

I'm so excited to share this experience with my sister Tameka "Meek" Willams.  Our story is a unique one finding each other many years ago and forging our bond almost immediately.  We've tried our best to make up for loss times by creating memories of the places we've gone and vacations we've done together. I'm beyond thrilled to have my sister by my side.  Tameka is a Certified Nurse Midwife residing in Detroit, MI.

Angela and I met over 22yrs ago when we were tasked to help open the new Nordstrom store in Durham, NC.  As fellow department managers, we quickly became friends and ultimately sisters navigating being in a new city as young professionals. I love how our friendship has remained over the years and no matter what's going on I can call on my little sis for support, and a vibrant colorful word that will send me laughing up a storm. Very thankful, to have her as part of my bridal squad. Angela is a Nordstrom store manager, and resides in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Tasha and I met in the same way I met Angela, which linked us forever and cemented her as the big sister I've always wanted.  If you were to look up fashionista in the dictionary, a picture of Tasha should be next to it, LOL! Over the years no matter our physical distance "my big sis" has always been supportive, loving, and wise and I love that she is a part of my bridal party. Tasha is a fierce sales and personal stylist at Neiman Marcus and resides in Atlanta, GA

My older brother has always been a beacon of wisdom and a true teacher of life. We share many similarities, making it easy for me to learn from him. His deep understanding of life and its intricacies, and his wisdom, often seem beyond his years. He stands as a model of resilience and determination, embodying the strength of a black man who knows when to forge ahead and when to stand firm. We are part of the "Fabulous Four" — with our two sisters, we share a bond forged in love, might, and divine guidance. My brother isn’t just family; he’s a confidant, a steadfast supporter, and truly, a ride or die. From celebrating highs to navigating the deepest lows, he’s been a constant shoulder I can lean on. Having him by my side on this important day isn’t just necessary; it’s a tribute to every step we’ve walked together.

From the age of seven or eight, Edmund has been a good friend in my life. He’s the one who always knew how to find humor in the smallest things, his laughter ringing sometimes higher than anyone else’s. Our friendship has been a constant through decades, a testament to shared joys and mutual respect. He introduced me to his family from a young age, both immediate and extended, and they all became a cherished part of my world. Our bond has been strengthened by shared values—our faith, our appreciation of family, and our admiration for his father, a man whose legacy continues to inspire both of us. Edmund is that rare friend who never changes, except to grow and improve, and it’s these qualities that make him indispensable not just in my friend group but in my life. Having him stand with me as a best man is a tribute to every moment of laughter and every memory we’ve shared over the years.

Choosing my son to stand by me as I take this step is indescribably fitting. Seth, though quieter than I was at his age, reflects so much of who I am and who I aspire to be. His words may be few, but they carry weight and wisdom beyond his years. Including him in this moment is about more than just fatherly pride; it’s about sharing experiences, imparting lessons, and ensuring he knows he belongs and matters immensely. Seth isn't just part of my legacy; he’s a vital part of my here and now, and I can think of no greater honor than to have him by my side as I say, "I do."

As many of you know Larry is Tosha's younger brother and one of the first family members to even know I was going to propose since I had to stay at his place to make the surprise happen.  I'm honored he has agreed to be one of my groomsmen and look forward to us becoming family.  Larry resides in the Greater Los Angeles area in Southern CA.

Lawrence lives in Sanford, North Carolina and is the bride's cousin but raised more like her brother.  However, not just important to Tosha, but well before I knew Tosha I knew and forged a relationship with Lawrence over the last 15 years.  Having a close relationship with the family spending holidays and other memorable moments together. I'm honored and excited to have him be one of my groomsman.

Trip To Porto

Please dress comfortably. The streets of Portugal are cobblestone streets that can be hard on your feet wearing sandals. We advise wearing sneakers or tennis shoes, and bringing a light jacket or sweater for later in the evening in case it gets cold.

About Braga

With over 2000 years of history, Braga is the oldest city in Portugal and one of the world's oldest catholic cities. It is also the third-largest city of Portugal and has a young, vibrant population. Along with numerous churches, there are characterful shopping streets, elegant Baroque mansions, and grand plazas. Braga is also the setting for the most impressive monument in Northern Portugal, the Bom Jesus do Monte. Entry to this beautiful place is free, note there is a fee to take the train up though.

The Bom Jesus do Monte, has the most breathtaking views in all of Braga. The stairs to the top is about 381ft but for those not willing to do the walk all the way up they do have a Funicular (the oldest in the world) that can take you to the top and give you a scenic view on the way up.

Guimarães is known as the birth place of Portugal. There are medieval castles to see dating form the 10th century to streets of shopping explore. This is a city in the Braga District that is a must see. Visiting and exploring the castle and the museums are free to the public.

If you are staying at Innside Braga Centro, the great news is this is steps away from the hotel, and easy to get to.

This beautiful garden is in walking distance of the city center near the host hotel. It is the perfect site to take pictures and have lunch in one of the surrounding areas.

If you're looking for a good brunch or breakfast spot Méze is a great place to start.

If you're looking for a more fine dining experience, Palatial is just a few miles away from the hotel and is a Michelin Guide Restaurant. Reservations may be needed.

About Porto

Porto is the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon. It is the capital of the&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto_District" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Porto District</a>&nbsp;and one of the&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iberian_Peninsula" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Iberian Peninsula</a>'s major urban areas.&nbsp;This great city is located just 30 mins away from Braga, and is where we will spend our day day trip on Tuesday. If you want to explore on your own, here are some must see sites.

This is a must see beautiful spot as a tourist you don't wan to miss. It's filled with restaurants, shopping, and the beautiful boats going up and down the Duoro Valley River.
